Several weeks ago the female began to attack the male dog, who is not an aggressive dog in the least. The female dog came from a home where she was the only dog in the house and is very dependant on us and has to be close to us all the time. The dogs have now been together for a little under a year. They were both shelter dogs and the female had just had pups several weeks before being adopted so she seemed to have some depression issues already. We had the first one (male) for approx 2 years before buying the second (female) and they seemed to get along fine. He is a very loving dog and he means the world to me he just has some issues that need to b fixed then he'd b perfect. Any advice on how to handle this would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure what to do to help fix his aggression problems tried a bit of everything and I'm not seeing any results.ĭon't know how to fix the small animal aggression he's killed about 4 possums in my backyard. He's had obedience training and the trainer said he was better than most dogs that can hear he listens well to handle signals such as sit and lay he will say for a Lil while but not for to long. If I take him to someone else's house if they have a dog similiar to his size he plays with them like a normal dog would also if we take him to a park with a dog similar to his size he's fine. He doesn't like smaller animals we just recently got another boxer puppy and he attacked her after about 15 mins. If we have company over he will play with them an he's completely nice while they are over but once they go to leave he's growling and biting at their ankles (yeah I know a boxer being an ankle biter kinda silly.) I have a white male boxer 2.5 years old who is aggressive and he's deaf. We don't want to give him away as 70% of the time he is wonderful to us all but it's the not knowing what he is going to do next which I can not live with. Could this have caused the aggression towards my husband however he did not show any signs of change untill after his stay at the kennels.Ĭharlie is not agressive every day but it feels like he is a ticking time bomb. In 2009 my husband accidently shut Charlie's tail in the door and after many visits to the vets it was removed. He has not been aggressive to me or our 3 children but I know I am not helping the situation as I think he can sense my fear. Charlie's behaviour seems to change more at night and he becomes even more aggressive when he can sense I am nervous. He will jump at him putting his mouth around my husband's hand causing bruising and teeth marks. Partically as he goes to leave the house at night for work however has also attacked during the day. He has now become aggressive towards my husband. He had never done this before at home but we soon realised that he had changed. The owner had told us he had been very aggressive towards them and was protective of his food bowl. The problem started in 2010 when picking him up from the kennels after a family vacation. He is a lovely playful dog, who will listen to basic commands and is very good with other animals and people however he does jump up alot. I have a 4 year old boxer called Charlie, he has not been neutered. How? Simply click here to return to My Aggressive Dog. Join in and write your own page! It's easy to do. Any tips would be great, because we really want him to be a happy dog that can come to places with us and right now he is unhappy. However we aren’t doing something right because he is still bad, he gets between 2-5 mile of walks a day and I play with them in the backyard for a hour when the weather is good but he is still very much aggressive and goes from 0-10 when anybody comes to our house. If we are on a walk he tries to run over to them and attack them, if he sees a person on the walk and they get too close he growls and tries to bite or nip them. If the door is open when someone is out there he goes out and tries to bite or nip them so he has bitten around 5 people or so and drawn blood on most of them, and one was a dog trainer. The male is very red zone aggressive (think it is Fear and Territorial-Based aggression), for example if somebody knocks or rings the door, or the mailman comes, or he hears a noise outside he barks like crazy and then takes his frustration out on our female dogs, it looks like a dog fight but there is no blood just a lot of noise. I need some suggestions, I have 2 boxers dogs.
